Ritual Schedule

Follow the steps of the Lord's daily sacred service, in their traditional sequential order.

05:00 AM

Dwaraphita & Mangal Aalati

Opening the temple doors and offering the morning prayer with lamps (Mangal Aalati) to awaken and glorify the Lord.

06:00 - 06:45 AM

Mailam & Abakash

Removal of the previous night's dress and flowers (Mailam), followed by brushing teeth and bathing of the deities (Abakash), and dressing in fresh daily clothes.

07:00 - 08:00 AM

Sahanamela & Beshalagi

A time for the public to have a free glimpse of the deities without heavy ornamentation (Sahanamela), followed by dressing them up again (Beshalagi).

08:30 - 09:30 AM

Homa & Gopala Ballav

Offering the sacred fire sacrifice (Rosha Homa), worship of the Sun God (Surya Puja), and offering the first sweet morning breakfast (Gopala Ballav).

10:00 - 11:00 AM

Sakala Dhupa & Bhogamandap

The major morning meal of the Lord (Sakala Dhupa), followed by a massive offering of food for the public (Bhogamandap Puja) inside the temple.

12:30 - 03:00 PM

Madhyanna Dhupa & Pahuda

The afternoon meal offering (Madhyanna Dhupa), followed by the afternoon rest period (Pahuda) when the doors are closed for the deities to sleep.

06:00 - 07:00 PM

Sandhya Aalati & Dhupa

Offering the evening prayer with oil lamps (Sandhya Aalati) followed by the evening meal offering to the deities (Sandhya Dhupa).

08:00 - 09:00 PM

Chandanalagi & Badasinghar Besha

Anointing the Lord's body with sandalwood paste to cool it down, followed by dressing in the most beautiful floral attire for the night (Badasinghar Besha).

10:30 - 11:30 PM

Dhupa & Khata Seja Lagi

The final late-night meal (Badasinghar Dhupa) and arranging the beds for the deities to sleep (Khata Seja Lagi and Pahuda) before closing the temple for the night.
